Chris
van der Drift twice on podium at Hockenheim
Dutch
New-Zealander Chris van der Drift had a good start of his
weekend. Despite a fifth and sixth position in the qualifying
races, the 2004 rookie of the year climbed on the podium twice
at Hockenheim. With two third places in the Formula BMW ADAC
races, Chris van der Drift can be regarded as one of the championship
favorites.
As
class for young talented driver the Formula BMW ADAC is a
comparable counterpart to the popular Benelux Formula Renault
2000 championship. Since all races are held as supporting
programme of the Formula One and Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters
broad media coverage is assured. The use of identical cars,
engines, tyres, and fuel for all competitors makes sure that
the driver is the critical factor for success in this championship.
An ideal opportunity for companies and marques to show themselves
at a broad international level. For questions and information

Competing
for the Rosberg Team, Van der Drift qualified as fifth and
sixth for race one and two respectively. A superstart in race
one brought the 19-year old and twelve-time karting champion
to second place. A couple of laps later he lost a position
to Buemi, with whom he fought many duels last year. Chris
ended race one in third place. A mature performance in race
two brought Van der Drift to third place again. Vandy
was happy with these results. Despite I had chances
to catch Mendoza for a second place at the last race today,
I am glad with the two podium finishes. In both races I had
a great start and managed to get in the top three. Luckily
I could defend my position so I have a good position in the
championship!
