Karl
Reindler has stamped his authority over the Formula 3 field at Eastern
Creek raceway this weekend, as he lead the pack to score pole position
for both races in this weekends fifth round of the 2004 Australian
F3 championship.
In
a dominant display, the Team BRM Driver was fastest in both practice
sessions yesterday, and topped both qualifying sessions today. Reindler
also added two championship points to his tally to edge him closer
to the championship leader.
A
cold day at the Sydney circuit meant that Saturday’s times
were slightly slower than those seen at the recent test at the track,
which the team dominated.
“I
am really, really happy with today’s sessions,” Said Reindler.
“The car was terrific, and we haven’t changed a thing
on it all day. We had a trouble free day and I am really looking
forward to tomorrow.”
In
the Yokohama F3 Trophy class, Team BRM’s driver Nic Jordan
endured mechanical difficulties throughout most of Qualifying, with
the team having to change engines between sessions. Despite the
dramas, Jordan still scored pole for the second race and will start
second in the trophy field for race one.
“Despite
the problems today, I’m really looking forward to tomorrow,”
Said the teenage Kiwi sensation. “I was driving flat out today
to get around the mechanical problems, and I have come to grips
with the track really quickly. I think we are looking good for a
win tomorrow.”
In
another twist for the team to think about on qualifying day, rain
is forecast for all day Sunday in the vicinity of Eastern Creek
Raceway.
“I
am confident with my pace in the wet after the Winton round,”
Said Reindler. “We were really fast there in the wet, so here
shouldn’t be much different.”
Team
owner Bronte Rundle was happy with the team’s performance on
the all-important qualifying day.
“Karl
drove very well today to score two pole positions, he really showed
some great pace today.” He said. “Nic was unfortunate
to have mechanical problems with his car, but still showed impressive
pace to score another Trophy class pole for race two. The team also
did a great job to change engines in a limited amount of time.”
Rundle
was also confident that should it indeed rain, the team would be
ready. “I see no reason why we wont be competitive if it is
wet tomorrow, But we shall have to wait and see.”
Karl
Reindler, Nic Jordan and Team BRM line up for two races tomorrow
at 11:35am and 15:30pm.
