ZANDVOORT
- He came, saw and overwon. At his return to the Benelux Formula
Renault 2000 Championship series this weekend at Zandvoort, Paul
immediately took pole position and a racewin in his first attempt.
Paul: "It feels good to be back again!"
More
than 25.000 spectators viewed how Paul drove to an outstanding pole
position in the first race on Whit Monday. Because Paul choose to
start in this weekend's European Championship round at Brno, the
current Dutch champion wasn't able to qualify himself for the first
race. Having started from the last row, Paul only needed six laps
to secure pole position for Race 02. A clean start and a couple
of quick openinglaps than made his comeback dream come true: with
a margin of more than three seconds he won his 'first' race for
Japanese driver Kanui Kobayashi. 2003 rival Junior Strous came home
in third place.
Paul:
"Its j ust fantastic to come back here with a racewin.
The experience and knowledge which I gained during my European race-events
lately, certainly helped me achieving this perfect result. I would
like to thank my team Nikon Motorsport for their incredible job:
after the races in Brno were finished, they immediately drove back
home and gave me a superb car here today!
